Vada Bhaat is a spicy Maharashtrian rice recipe where dal vadas (pakoras) are fried, then mixed with rice and topped with spicy tadka. <br /> <br />Ingredients: <br /> <br />Boiled Rice (quantity as required) <br /> <br />For Vada <br />1/4th Cup Chana Dal <br />2 tbsp Matki (Moth Beans) <br />2 tbsp Moong Dal <br />2 tbsp Masoor Dal <br />2 tbsp Urad Dal <br />2 tbsp Tur Dal <br />1 tsp Cumin Seeds <br />Salt <br />2-3 Green Chillies <br />2 tbsp Ginger Garlic crush <br />Coriander leaves <br />Oil for frying <br /> <br />For Tadka <br />4-5 tbsp Oil <br />1 tbsp Mustard Seeds <br />1/4th tsp Asafoetida <br />4-5 Dry Red Chillies <br />1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder <br /> <br />Method: <br /> <br />To make the Dal Vada <br />- First soak the chana dal, matki, moong dal, masoor dal, urad dal & tur dal in water for 4-5 hours. <br />- In a mixer grinder add the soaked dal, ginger garlic crush, cumin seeds, salt, green chillies and coriander leaves. Grind everything to a coarse paste. <br />- Pour the mixture in a bowl. Take small portions of the mixture and put them in the hot oil for frying. <br />- Fry the Vadas till golden brown. <br /> <br />To make the tadka <br />- In a pan heat some oil. <br />- Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, dry red chillies and turmeric powder. Mix well. <br />- On a serving plate pour some cooked rice. <br />- Put the tadka on the rice. Crush some dal vadas on the rice. <br />- Mix everything. <br />- Nagpuri Vade Bhaat is ready to be served.
